I think the best blazon of files to upload to Cricut Design Infinite are SVG files. An SVG is a file with a pre-made blueprint that you can download to your computer or device then upload to Cricut Design Space. The file contains all (or most) of the imagery and directions needed to cut a project exactly every bit designed. And it's this carefulness that makes SVG cutting files so appealing — it allows designers to brand something precisely and share it with others so they tin can do the same thing.
Just the truth is that trying to getting SVG images uploaded can be pretty frustrating sometimes. Sometimes they download into weird places, or even don't look right afterward yous've downloaded them. Other times, they don't seem to upload the mode we expect. Or we can't get them uploaded at all!
And, for those of you on Windows, y'all may download a file and not be able to find the SVG file at all because of weirdness on your computer. I tin can help with this, too!

Then you click the Browse button. You can elevate and drop with Windows, if you prefer, but I call back it's best to Scan for your file.
Locate the SVG file. Do non upload the ZIP file by accident. If you do, you will become this message:
It's actually of import that you don't but upload this Null file. You want to detect the decompressed version, and and then find the SVG file within that folder, and then upload that. Otherwise it just won't work and it will tell you so.
Of import: If yous practice NOT run across the SVG file, but instead see something that says "Chrome HMTL Document," this IS your SVG file. Windows is simply not showing it as an SVG because you lot do non have an awarding installed that understands and identifies it.
So in that location we go, our paradigm is uploaded to Cricut Design Space! Add in some tags and click the Relieve push button. And information technology will save to Cricut Pattern Space for us.
And the uploaded files appears over on the left side of your screen. You click information technology and click Insert Image.

On the side by side screen, click Upload Epitome.
On the screen that appears next, y'all tin do one of two things. You can either drag your SVG file from the Finder correct into the Upload area — information technology will turn green when the window recognizes a valid file, OR click the Browse push and use the File Open window to locate and select your SVG file. Either way works.
Tip: If you're using the Browse button — type in SVG in the Find box in the upper right corner of your File Open window, select "Scalable Vector Graphics" from the drop-downward listing, and lookout man all the SVG files on your computer show up! Pretty nifty, eh? I appear to have a LOT.
Once you've selected your SVG file, be certain to requite Cricut Design Infinite some time to load your file — some complicated files may take longer than you expect. A sliding green bar across the top of your screen indicates that it is uploading. When it is finished uploading, don't stop yet — you lot have 1 more than step to save information technology. You demand to name and tag your image, and then click Salvage.
A note about the Image Name and Tags. I recommend you at least put in tags, as information technology will help tremendously later when you are looking for a file. But put in some tags that brand sense to you. When you're ready, click the greenish Salve push button.
In one case the file is saved, you'll be dorsum at the commencement Upload screen and yous should see your most recently uploaded file on the top left.
By the style, if y'all've e'er been stumped by why you don't see ALL of your uploaded files here (I hear this one a lot), just click this little "View all" link higher up the images — it will show ALL images you lot've always uploaded. Nifty, eh?
Ok, at present that y'all've uploaded your file, you may be wondering how to use it. Only click one time on the image of your upload. How Not to Upload SVG Files on Windows or Mac
Now let me tell you what yous SHOULD NOT do if you're attempting to upload a file.
ane. Do not double-click the SVG file. This will cause your computer to look for a file that can open up it, such as Inkscape or Illustrator. This is NOT what you want.
2. Practise not drag it to your browser window. This will usually result in your browser displaying the image, but not in your design software. This will not become you where you want to become.
3. Similarly, do not drag it into Cricut Design Space unless you are in the Upload Prototype window with the gray dashed line. It won't work, and your browser volition but display a static epitome of the file.
4. You lot also desire to be careful to upload the SVG file, not the PDF or JPG or whatsoever other file that might be in the folder. I should too note that while DXF files are allowed, practice not open those if y'all take an SVG — more data is in the SVG file and you'll have ameliorate results with information technology. Most designers, including myself, include the DXF file for those who have pattern software that does not let SVG files.

Tip: Click here to see a full stride-by-pace tutorial on how to upload SVG files to the Cricut App on the iPhone and iPad!
Then at present allow'due south go over uploading a file using the iPad that is running Chrome Remote Desktop. If you're not familiar with Chrome Remote Access, go back to the first session in this training series where I talk about how you tin can install it and how you can use it to practice a whole lot of things you can't normally do with an iPad or iPhone with Cricut Design Space. This is actually a helpful tip.
So here I am on my iPad. I'm going to click Chrome Remote Desktop Access. My app is already setup so I'grand going to connect to my iMac then that I tin get alee and do things. So I need to authenticate first which is set up up in advance when you install this initially.
Then here nosotros are on my iPad looking at Cricut Design Space that's on my Mac. Yous could also practice this to look at Windows. Information technology works in either way. Y'all simply need to have to set up. Then I am going to walk you through how I can upload a file using my iPad without having to go to my Mac at all.
Then I'thou going to click on New Project correct over here on the left.
Then I'm going to click the Upload button also on the left side.
So permit's click on Upload Image and here we see exactly what we encounter in Cricut Design Space.
And so I am going to use Scan as it's a lot easier to do using this interface. Alright so and this screen is small on my Ipad — you can enlarge it by using 2 fingers and spreading them autonomously only similar you would normally practice in an iOS app.
So there'south the SVG file.
Tap it to select it. Then I'm going to tap Open up and I'll make this smaller again so we can picket it.
All correct, there we become. So in that location's my owl file and I can again name and tag my image. So I can click here in the tag line and and so upwardly here in the upper right manus corner there's an icon of a keyboard. If you lot click that your keyboard on your iPad comes up and y'all can put in your tags or any you might like. Tags, by the way, are just a sort of keyword that you can employ when y'all're searching for things. And and then we click the Salvage button right in that location in the lower correct and it has saved for us just like it'southward supposed to.
In order to come across this paradigm on our iPad, nosotros have to save this owl as a Project. I'm going to show yous very quickly how to practise this so that you're ready to go in the next footstep. The next video, which is going to talk about how to prepare the files you lot've uploaded for really cutting and how to customize them every bit well. Okay, and then we've selected our owl carte. Let'southward make this a lilliputian bigger. Alright and so let'southward click Insert Images. And so there is the owl on my Canvas.
Now to salve this as a projection which is carve up from saving as an image or just, you know, uploading, we're going to go the Salvage button in the upper right corner. Click information technology and information technology volition come with a box that's a Saved Project. We bring upwardly our keyboard once more and we're going to type in "owl shadow box card – Jennifer Maker."
There we go. Hide the keyboard window and click Save. Information technology will tell you it is saving. So it's now saved as a Project. This is not normally something you demand to do until you're actually read to save information technology, but in this instance on the iPad we want to practice that.
So at present let'southward become back and go into the Cricut Pattern Space app. Once again, that's different than using the Remote Chrome Admission app to get to our desktop or laptop computers. Okay, and so we're going to click on the drop-down menu in the upper left corner and choose My Projects in the Cloud. This is important because these projects are't saved on the iPad; they're saved in the Cloud that we just did through remote access.
And, certain enough, information technology shows upwardly and it'due south available for u.s. to use. All nosotros take to do is click othe projection and information technology'll give u.s.a. the option to use it.
And we click OK and it volition announced on our Canvas. And that is how you become an SVG file uploaded into Cricut Design Space using an iPad running Chrome Remote Admission.
